This Privacy Policy explains how Anchorwest Labs LLC collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use Updraft Journal, including our website, application, subscription services, and related features.

We collect information you provide directly, information created through your use of the service, and limited technical information needed to operate and improve Updraft Journal.
Account Information: We may collect information such as your name, email address, login method, account settings, subscription status, and other information needed to create and manage your account.
Journal and Reflection Content: Updraft Journal allows you to create journal entries, reflections, gratitude entries, day logs, notes, and related personal content. Your journal content may include thoughts, emotions, personal experiences, goals, stressful events, and other information you choose to enter. During an active 14-day trial or with Premium, current journal content is encrypted in the browser before cloud storage; AWS DynamoDB receives encrypted ciphertext rather than readable journal prose. Limited operational metadata may remain unencrypted, including account identifiers, entry dates, timestamps, encryption setup values, and subscription status. We do not make a representation that every historical record has always used the current encryption path.
Expired Free-User Local Drafts: After the trial, Morning, Day, and Night writing is stored only as an encrypted local draft on that device. A local draft expires automatically 24 hours after its most recent update. It can remain available after a refresh or browser reopening on the same device when the journal passphrase is entered again. Expired free users do not receive new cloud journal saves, Archive browsing, trends, or history and pattern analysis.
Passphrase and Security Information: Your journal passphrase helps protect encrypted journal content. The passphrase and its derived encryption key are not persisted. You are responsible for keeping your passphrase safe; Updraft Journal cannot recover a lost passphrase or use it to recover encrypted journal content.
Payment and Subscription Information: Stripe is used only when you initiate subscription or billing-management actions. We may receive limited payment-related information needed to manage your subscription, such as your subscription plan and payment status. We do not intentionally store your full credit card number on our own systems.
Usage and Device Information: We may collect limited technical information such as browser type, device type, operating system, pages viewed, features used, error logs, IP address, approximate location based on IP address, session activity, and timestamps.
Support Communications: If you contact us for support, we may collect your email address, message content, attachments, and any other information you choose to provide.
Cookies and Similar Technologies: We may use cookies, local storage, session storage, or similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, improve security, understand usage, and operate the service.
We use information to: Provide, operate, and maintain Updraft Journal; Create and manage user accounts; Authenticate users; Save and display journal content; Provide journaling, reflection, gratitude, breathing, archive, and related features; Process subscriptions and payments; Send account, billing, security, and service related messages; Respond to support requests; Improve performance, reliability, design, and usability; Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security issues, and technical problems; Comply with legal obligations; Enforce our Terms of Service.
Purpose Reflection, Guiding Thread, Calm Perspective, and history and pattern analysis are local, rules-based browser features. Their response selection can vary within those local rules. These features do not send journal prose to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, AWS Bedrock, or another external language-model provider.
These features are for personal reflection and informational support only. They are not medical advice, mental health treatment, legal advice, financial advice, or professional counseling.
We do not sell journal content. AWS Cognito handles authentication. For active-trial and Premium cloud-save use, AWS DynamoDB stores encrypted journal ciphertext. Stripe is used only when you initiate subscription or billing-management actions. DiceBear may provide avatar SVGs using an email-based seed, and Google Fonts is loaded by the site. These services are distinct from journal-content analysis; journal prose is not sent to an external language-model provider.
We may also share information: With your consent; To process payments and manage subscriptions; To comply with law, legal process, or government requests; To protect the rights, safety, and security of users, Anchorwest Labs LLC, or others; To investigate fraud, abuse, or security issues; In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, or business transfer.
When you initiate a subscription or billing-management action, payment information is processed by Stripe according to its own privacy policy and legal obligations. We recommend reviewing Stripe's privacy policy before using those functions.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. During an active trial or with Premium, current journal content is encrypted in the browser before cloud storage. After the trial, new Morning, Day, and Night writing is stored only as an encrypted local draft on the device for up to 24 hours after its most recent update. However, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for using a strong password, protecting your login credentials and journal passphrase, and keeping your account information up to date.
We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Updraft Journal, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, and maintain business records. Encrypted local drafts for expired free users are deleted automatically 24 hours after their most recent update. Cloud-saved journal content may remain in your account until you delete it or request account deletion, subject to technical limitations, backup retention, legal obligations, and legitimate business needs.
You may request deletion of your account by contacting us at: support@anchorwestlabs.com. When your account is deleted, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de identify your personal information and journal content, unless we need to retain certain information for legal, security, fraud prevention, billing, tax, accounting, dispute resolution, or backup purposes.
You can export an available local draft before it expires and export existing cloud-saved entries. Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or other control over certain personal information. To make a privacy request, contact us at: support@anchorwestlabs.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
We may send you service related messages, such as account, billing, security, and subscription notices. If we send marketing emails, you may unsubscribe using the link in the email or by contacting us. You may still receive important service related messages.
Updraft Journal is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it. If you are between 13 and 17, you should use Updraft Journal only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Updraft Journal may contain links to third party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or policies of third parties.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may provide notice through the service or by email. Your continued use of Updraft Journal after changes become effective means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
